OUR OPERATIONS
Mining Activity
Terna Mag exploits two large magnesite deposits of high purity cryptocrystalline magnesite in Gerorema and Kakavos area. Exploration continues for identification and confirmation of new reserves.

Beneficiation Process
The extracted magnesite (Run Of Mine) from these deposits undergoes a series of beneficiation processes on-site at Gerorema and Kakavos.
Initially, the magnesite is crushed, screened/washed, and classified. Subsequent sorting by magnetic and optical sorters, as well as manual hand-picking, ensures the removal of impurities and the selection of high-purity material to meet our rigorous product standards.
Beneficiation capabilities have been recently advanced by installing the state-of-the-art XRT equipment supplied by TOMRA Sorting GmbH. The X-ray transmission technology enables materials to be recognized and separated based on their specific atomic density. It is based on a planar projection of X-ray attenuation of single particles in a stream.
This technology makes it possible to obtain a high separation performance in sorting magnesite irrespective of size, moisture, dust or dirt on a surface. By empowering the OBTAIN™ software, which exploits artificial neural networks and Deep Learning approach, data precision and sorting efficiency is further enhanced. The machine can be quickly optimized for the required sorting tasks by the selection of sorting programs and sensitivity adjustments.

MULTIPLE HEARTH FURNACE (HERRESHOFF)
High-tech Multiple Hearth Furnace (Herreshoff) with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons for Caustic Calcined Magnesia.

ROTARY KILN
Rotary Kiln with an annual combined capacity of 60,000 tons of Dead Burned Mangesia / Caustic Calcined Magnesia.


Following beneficiation, the magnesite is transported to our Mantoudi industrial processing facilities, where calcination and further processing take place. Our annual production capacity stands at 120,000 tons of Caustic Calcined Magnesia (CCM) and Dead Burned Magnesia (DBM) products.

Logistics
Our logistics team, in close cooperation with various shipping and forwarding companies, provides efficient logistics solutions to meet our customer needs for reliable, consistent and on time delivery of our products to different destinations around the globe.
Our planning and transportation management is also supported and streamlined by advanced ERP systems (SAP S4/HANA).
Our logistics solutions include:
• Sea transport (container shipments from Piraeus container port and bulk/brake bulk shipments from Kymassi port)
• International road transport (door-to-door, full truck loads/groupage)
Kymassi sea port
Our industrial site is just 1.5 km away from Kymassi port which can accommodate vessel’s sizes of up to 6,000 metric tons for bulk or brake bulk shipments.

Three milling units, alongside one new ball mill currently under installation for powders.
